Abstract
This general study is devoted to the charge transfer complexes series tetrathiofulvalenium-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TTF- TCNQ). This is the unique series known on which it has been possible to play with the organic synthesis in order to modify the physical properties.
Our results obtained during these last years are presented inside the framework of the current investigations on the organic conductor field. In the different parts of this review we firstly present the chemistry of these new materials together with the physical chemistry characteristics. The second part deals with the structural works and the third one with the electronic system and the physical properties.
An analysis is carried out to show quantitative correlations between the different materials which are conductors and what are the pertinent parameters to classify these compounds. An effort is made to understand the physical properties, in particular the occurence and the stability of the metallic state, on one hand and to foresee about new compounds on the other hand.
