Electronic absorption spectrum of 2-chloro 6-fluoro toluene in vapour phase
Department of Physics, University of Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur, 273001, India.
The absorption spectrum of 2-chloro 6-fluoro-toluene molécule has been investigated in the near ultraviolet. The bands are observed in the region 2 553-2 722 Å. The (0,0) band has been identified at 2 700.7 Å (37 017 cm-1). The vibrational analysis of the bands has been proposed in terms of the ground State fondamental 262 cm-1 and the excited state fundanientals 352, 600, 755, 982, 1 087, 1 175 and 1 580 cm-1. The fundanientals identified arc correlated with the infrared and Raman frequencies. A blue shift in the (0,0) band of 2-chloro 6-fluoro-toluene with respect to o-chloro-toluene has been noted. The (0,0) bands of chlorofluorotoluenes and a few other related compounds are calculated with the help of Platt’s spectroscopic moments.
