The absorption spectra of 3-fluorobenzoylchloride have been studied in IR and UV regions in liquid and vapour phases respectively. The 0,0 band has been identified at 33 928 cm-1 (2 946,6 Å) and vibrational analysis has been proposed in terms of the fundamental frequencies, 143 cm-1 in the ground state and 429, 529, 605, 806 and 929 cm-1 in the excited state. The IR and UV spectra are correlated. The IR spectrum of 2-fluorobenzoylchloride was also recorded for comparison.
