Abstract
The simulation of absorption machines (heating mode or cooling mode) needs some data such as equilibrium (temperature, pressure, concentration) and enthalpies (liquid and gaseous phase). On the other hand the lithium bromide-water system is often used but at high temperatures there are some corrosion problems. This is the reason why the water-glycerol mixture has been selected. Due to a lack of data and the discrepencies there in, liquid-vapor equilibrium has been measured and BARKER’S method has been used for the correlations of activity coefficients. A correlation of the enthalphy of solutions, temperature and concentrations is also given. The degree of freedom of an absorption cycle is six, so from six kinds of data it is shown how to obtain the other variables of the cycle. Results of the simulation (coefficient of performance versus generator temperature) are given.
