Dielectric relaxation in α,ω-dichloroalkanes*
Departement of Physics, University of Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur, India., India.
The dielectric constant and loss of 1,2; 1,4-; 1,6-; 1,8- and 1,10-dichloroalkanes have been measured at the frequencies 1.8 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 4.0 GHz and 23.7 GHz and at 35, 45, 55 and 65 °C. The complex plots of dielectric loss againts dielectric constant have been found to be skewed arcs. The relaxation behaviour has been discussed in terms of Davidson-Cole representation as a result of intramolecular cooperative phenomena. The thermodynamic parameters are also evaluated.
